We are now in a very serious political situation and we are putting ourselves the problem of radicalization, which is something different from the radicalization between classes and society, between society represented by the state and the state itself. The phenomena and movements of dissent, which I call autonomy of the social forces, are the very sign of the crisis of the strategy and traditional Marxist analysis. The fundamental attitude must therefore deal with the analysis of the have tried to suppress these symptoms and have tried to take no care of the problems coming from social dissent; on the contrary they have considered them normal and have ascribed them to an ideological code which represents, at the end, the traditional strategy. It is necessary to ask ourselves what the social dissent is symptom of it is necessary to analyse even the frequent practice of violence of the moment, as a means of struggle and also of terrorism (...). We do not know which is our reality between a state that does not exist and an invisible and not substitutive anti-state. In this situation an intellectual is asked to be committed, to identify himself with the state: the intellectual becomes the intermediation with the existence. On the other hand instead he can choose not to identify himself with the state, which involves ideological and sometimes real criminalize. The intellectual so often feels schizophrenic condemned to criminalize if ever he does not accept this identification.
